hi, I’m maggie walker.

I’m a UX designer, a frontend dev, an artist, a maker, and so much more. Thanks for stopping by!

at my core,
I am a creator.

I have been a multi-passionate maker for as long as I can remember. I dabbled in illustration, lettering, and web design as a teenager and went on to study Graphic Design at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where I graduated with departmental honors in 2011.

In college I fell in love with hula hoop dance, and upon graduating my life pulled me towards the midwest and I became connected to the circus and hula hooping communities in St. Louis and Kansas City. I quickly began teaching and performing in the area, both solo and in production companies. During this time I launched my clothing line - Radiant Threads - and created many costumes for MoonDrop Circus.

I later moved to the PNW and was inspired to move back toward my web design roots. I enrolled in Code Fellows - a coding bootcamp - to study Frontend and UX. I quickly fell in love with HTML and CSS. For 5 years I worked as a frontend dev with a penchant for great UX, before finally transitioning to working as a UX designer. UX design is a beautiful blend of visual design and empathy mapping, and it uses a satisfying mix of my skillsets.

When I’m not designing, I can be found drawing, cooking, making leather crafts and wire jewelry, crafting herbal medicines, making cut poetry, working on my garden, singing and dancing in community, exploring the beautiful PNW… anything to keep me grounded in creation and in the natural world.
